Anchor Tavern
Sweat was dripping off my forehead as we unloaded the rail car and carted the crates filled with bootleg through the tunnel up to the Tavern. Under the cover of darkness we worked quickly and tried to be quiet so as not to be caught. The liquor was quickly distributed all over town by underground tunnels that were miles long. Organized crime had come to our town too with a lot of money to be made from all this bootleg. Seems like the people of our town were thirstier than a hungover dog.
the story you have read is actually true and the owner of this fine establishment has since sealed off the door that leads to the waterfront to keep his Tavern safe and secure in this day and time. There are miles of tunnels that traverse under our town that were used during prohibition. A friend of mine and myself worked at one of the mansions from this era and they had a hidden room that everyone could hide in with their booze if the cops came. It was a pretty big room and could do the job.
thanks for dropping by and hope you enjoyed my story that is in line with the MM challenge of Fact or Fiction. Thanks to Apollo Fly for hosting!! In the extra is another place in our town where these tunnels lead and was used during prohibition.
