Weather Alert!

Going to be cold tonight...Well, quel surpris...colder than today? Yep... Extreme Cold Warning - going down to nearly minus 30 with the wind chill. 

Oh no...my heart goes out to those poor ducks down at the lake. In hopes of blip-ops, I went down there this morning in minus 8C temps, not counting wind chill, and THAT was frigid....Everything and anything close to the spray from crashing waves, was coated in ice..It was so cold, it was difficult to take photos, as hands did not last long outside of mitts! 

And there they were - this group of cute little ducks, all  lined up in a row along the shoreline, not venturing into the water, but staring out at it, probably wondering why in the world they choose to hang out here every winter!  

I spent some time watching them huddled there. There was no other sign of life to watch...no birdwatchers, no photographers...even the geese had fled. It was just me and the ducks.

I figured it was just a matter of time before one of those crashing waves took them by surprise..and it did.. washed right over them, giving them one heck of a cold shower! But they took it in their stride..like water off a duck's back, so to speak! Amazing...

I cannot help but wonder where they are spending the night...and how they will keep warm...
