1980’s Shopping Basket

I had a lot to do on the pc today, so whilst it was busing copying data I was doing this fab jigsaw that I was given by a friend for xmas. The items making up the jigsaw come from the Robert Opie Collection housed at the Museum of Brands, Packaging and Advertising in Notting Hill (some friends say it’s a good visit). Instant mash was a definite mistake, but I seem to remember quite liking Toast Toppers. I was surprised to see Ecover was around 40 years ago and the info on the box says it  was the decade when barcodes had to be printed on products. A rainy day here today.

Day 666 / Day 33 of Plan B (for my record only)
ITV revealed a leaked email last night from a senior Downing St official which invited 100 people to a ‘bring your own booze’ event in the Downing St garden on 20th May 2020 and reports are that Boris attended. Looking back on blip this was only about a week after the strictest phase of the lockdown ended and I was writing about being able to walk on the beach for the first time and the joy of meeting a ‘fellow human being’ for a socially distanced walk for the first time in 57 days. It’s clearly an absolute disgrace, there’s been a public outcry, and Boris must resign or be sacked. New cases dropped to 120,821 today - not sure if this is an accurate measure going forward as from today in England symptomless people with a positive LFT no longer have to confirm it with a PCR test (with exceptions). 379 deaths were recorded today, the highest number since Feb 24th 2021. The WHO has said that it’s too soon for countries to be treating Covid as an endemic illness like flu. The WHO also estimates that more than half of Europe will be infected with Omicron in the next 6-8 weeks. Restrictions on outdoor events will be lifted from Monday in Scotland - they were right to be cautious until Omicron outcomes were known. They are also enhancing the Covid certification scheme in Scotland to make having a booster a requirement for being fully vaccinated. A study of millions of GP records shows that care hone residents were 18 times more likely to die than older people at home during the first wave - it was 10 times pre-pandemic.
