O to O
October to Ostern (Easter) is the rule of thumb in Germany for having winter tyres on one's car. It is a legal requirement to always have 'appropriate' tyres for the driving conditions. If you are involved in an accident and even if not your fault, you will be given some of the blame/cost if the tyres are not appropriate.
Thus there is no law giving absolute dates for winter tyres, and indeed we have had snow in July here where accidents occurred on the autobahn and the drivers were fined!
The weather forecast now has snow appearing in the foreseeable future, so today finally got around to it.
