Liquor Store

You can buy alcohol in grocery stores here. Ethiopian grape wine is, well, terrible. Homemade honey wine, tej, is OK, but very sweet (surprise) for my tastes. There is a national liquor company which makes gin, cognac, brandy, ouzo, and lemon and mint flavored alcohols. No vodka or whiskey. Interesting choices. I have only tried the gin, which at about $2.50 a bottle, is quite drinkable.

Related to that, I saw a sign in a duty free local rum store in the Seychelles airport which, boasted that the rum contained "no methanol". If you drink methanol, about the best you could hope for is to go blind. I elected to steer clear of it anyway.
