Wild Wednesday ...

... Red-bellied Woodpecker.

I had taken lots of pictures today of different birds and such ...

But then later in the afternoon this beauty was spotted in the birch tree out front.  I didn't dare open the window as I know he would fly off immediately.  So these pictures were taken through the window.  I liked too many of the shots and I wanted to show all of his beautiful markings so I put together a collage of my favorites. You can tell this is a male by the red coloring going all the way to his crown.  The female's red is only on the back of her head.
