A grand day out

Hubby and I took ourselves off to Raasay this morning for a walk up Dun Caan, the highest point on Raasay at 433 metres. We had a lovely walk but were conscious as we headed up that rain clouds were looming in the distance. The view from the top was lovely looking right over Skye and away to Applecross on the mainland. Although I took lots of blips I decided I liked this one best.

It is the view from the road to Balmeanch, where we parked up and walked up to Dun Caan, looking back towards the Cuillins on Skye.

Other than a few flurries of snow up at the top of Dun Caan and then a light shower of rain on the way down, the rain stayed away.

We could really do with a few more showers to dampen down the ground as I see there are more muir burns going again today, although they look to be under control. The fire I blipped yesterday needed 6 fire engines and over 30 firemen to bring it under control and finally out. Two of the engines came from the mainland, Dingwall and Fort Augustus, some considerable distance. I think the people who started the fires should be made to pay for the call outs, it might make them think twice before striking any matches!
