We set off to Peebles a little later than we’d planned and all the way there A was thinking about it as her potential future commute as she considers it as a place to try and buy a house. We couldn’t get breakfast where we’d hoped so had to walk around the town for a while til a table was available, but that gave us time to explore a bit. We walked up and down the high street and called in at an estate agent (why do many of them close at weekends up here when surely that’s when most people are free to go in?!) to get her onto their mailing list. Nice shops to pootle in and seemed a friendly sort of place…she loved it.
After what turned out to be lunch rather than breakfast we checked out the river and surrounding countryside then bought these cakes at the chocolate cafe and headed home.
In the evening we had dinner at the Vietnamese restaurant round the corner. I’d never been before and wasn’t sure if/how it would differ from Thai or Malaysian food. It was tasty, and not particularly spicy but flavoured well. Loved the crunchy salad.
We came home for another game of scrabble and had the cakes which were delicious as a delayed dessert. The tiles were unkind to us all this evening…it was a difficult game and A and I struggled with S winning again.
