Winter cycling

We started with fog and ended the bike ride in fog, but in between we were able to enjoy sun, hail and slippery roads.
After our bike ride on January 1, we wrote a route that took us a little further into the Ardennes and then in an arc around Aachen.  The Dutch RDMI predicted an afternoon temperature of +6 and sunny.  So nice weather. The Belgian RMI will undoubtedly have predicted -2 and sunny, but we have not checked it.  It didn't matter, I thought it was beautiful.  A low sun and white trees, who wouldn't have enjoyed that. 

The batteries in my heated socks ran out in no time, but the socks themselves are warm enough to keep my feet warm until a coffee break in a cafe.  The batteries of my new gloves were also empty halfway through the day and that was very annoying.  Still, the gloves were still good enough after that without additional heating as long as I didn't have to take them off to eat something or take a picture, for example.
