Oamaru to Christchurch
Our accommodation for the night was a magnificent two-bedroom apartment in a building called the Old Confectionery. We wished we were staying longer.
We awoke to a stunning blue sky and sunshine and set off to explore Oamaru - not easy in just a few short hours. We wandered around the Victorian Precinct popping into various craft shops and galleries. There is a lot of original new art, but also a lot of steampunk and olde worldy merchandise - all very interesting. The people were friendly and happy to chat.
We had our “Celebratory Brunch” at the Criterion Hotel in a wonderful room we had all to ourselves, with an equally wonderful sitting room alongside. Then it was onto the coach and off to Christchurch, where we arrived at 7pm. We took a taxi to our accommodation to drop our bags, then back into the city for dinner at the King of Snake, an Asian-fusion restaurant. The food was excellent.
The blip and the extras show various interesting buildings and a wonderful playground in Oamaru, hubby on a penny farthing bicycle, and the entrance to King of Snake restaurant in Christchurch.
