Eyes Without a Face

I didn’t get home until well after midnight, following last nights post Panto bash, but I did come bearing a bonus quiche! One of the problems of doing a Jacobs Join is that there can be a duplication of goodies, but it went to extremes last night when about eight quiches of various flavours were laid out on the table. By the end of the night, several remained unopened so I claimed mine back to enjoy for lunch - very nice it was too!
Despite the late finish, I was up reasonably early today and have managed to cram a lot in so far. Mrs C and I went for a long, leisurely walk with a very pleasant coffee break in the middle. Walking along the river I was struck by this reflection of the bridge and how like a pair of staring eyes it was. By the time we arrived home and I’d had lunch I was in two minds as to whether I should go down to the theatre to see if there was any dismantling or putting away of items left to do - surely it would all be done by now? But it wasn’t, and I was given the task of dismantling a lot of the props and scenery I had been using not 24 hours previously.
Arriving home after that I still seemed to have plenty of energy so set to repairing a bedroom stool belonging to my sister. I’d already rebuilt it once as she broke it in the middle of last year. Just before Christmas, she broke it again, and this time it wasn’t going to be fixed with a bit of glue and some slightly bigger screws, so I’d brought it home for a comprehensive rebuild. With extra screws, reinforcing plates and a liberal application of PVA it should now be able withstand whatever rough handling she can throw at it.
Having a bit of a breather now before heading out to play at tonight’s gig. We’re on after the bingo so don’t start until 9.45. I’ve not played the venue before, but the rest of the band have, and I’m told that the Sunday night gigs don’t tend to go on too late so there is a chance I’ll make it home at a reasonable (by gig standards) hour. Maybe I’ll have a bit of a rest tomorrow…
