Richmond Park
I love an unusual road name, and as I drove past this one today, I noticed it had a footpath indicator sign. I parked up and had a look. The road led to one of the six original gates in the boundary wall of Richmond Park. It was called Coombe Gate at first and later became Ladderstile Gate. The step ladder remained in place until about 1884. Just inside the current gate, there is the Ladderstile Gate Lodge - seemingly a base for the Park Rangers.
