Wolf Moon 2022
Two very different images of tonight's Wolf Moon, the first an impressionistic version taken in the Waitrose car-park on my way home after a whole day of discussing nature recovery in the John Clare Countryside area (sitting in the meeting room of the office where I worked nearly thirty years ago) and the second taken in the garden at ten o'clock this evening, a stunning silver moon in a star-studded sky.
The Wolf Moon acquired its name because throughout cold January nights, the howling of wolves could be heard around villages in both Europe and America. But in China it is known as the Holiday Moon and the Celts named it the Quiet Moon.
