The accidental finding

I stayed in bed, mostly. Feeling ok, mostly, but I can feel myself getting woozy now that night is falling. I have a Lemsip lined up.

I remembered that I had signed up for a month's free trial of online classes and lectures at a website called Mirthy, more than a month ago! Sadly I never went to any of them. Today I decided to see what was on offer, and signed up for a Zoom lecture about some non-obvious sights of London, with guide Andrew Warde. Piccadilly Circus (above, in a photo from the early 1960s) is of course obvious, but I didn't realise that the statue of Eros (or Anteros) is made of lightweight aluminium. From www.britainexpress.com:

"The statue was cast by George Broad & Son at the Hammersmith Foundry. It was the first cast aluminium statue in the world, though curiously the fountain itself is bronze. The fountain and statue together stand 1097 cm x 518 cm (432 in x 204 in)"

The talk was enjoyable, very professional,  as was the Q&A session afterwards. Tomorrow I'll start a course (or at least the first session) on London's theatres. I can do it from my bed, if needed.

I Had an email from school. It said that there's officially an outbreak" of CoVid at school. It was bound to happen sooner or later, I suppose, with Omicron doing the rounds, despite all the precautions taken. All staff who are in school have to test daily. I'm staying in bed and will do a test again on day five. I think that's Friday for me.
