Mole with lipstick

This mole didn't live to see the spring. What killed him? I don't know. Probably not a car, too few where I found him. Perhaps the recent flood, or just age. At least the animal was intact, as far as I could see. And pretty heavy, so hunger was hardly the cause of death.
What surprised me was the size of the forepaws, really big! You can see one at the top of the blip.
The lips where the other thing surprising me. Do moles use lipstick?
