Hiking in City Creek canyon

We were supposed to have been cross-country skiing this morning, back up at the Nordic Center, however we had a good fresh snowfall overnight, even down in the valley, and clearly more up in the mountains, so we weren’t greatly surprised to receive a phone call over breakfast to say our lessons were cancelled, as they hadn’t been able to groom the trails. Fortunately they were open on New Years Day, so we were able to reschedule. So instead we stayed in the morning, playing Boggle, then walked to their local coffee shop for some lunch, stopping at the liquor store next to their supermarket on the way back to buy some bubbly for tonight. In the afternoon we went hiking, with spikes on our boots, in City Creek canyon, the closest canyon to the city, as you can see from the view over the city and the valley in the lower right of my collage. In the evening we watched some TV and played Scrabble before seeing in the New Year.
