Interim solution
Keith isn't a commuter model but he's a worthy short term interim solution. Two wheels, a seat, handle bars....
The morning's 'punch' into a building nor'easterly was mostly a tail wind on my late afternoon return trip. Nice.
In the covid era buses are more problematic. Mask wearing is mandatory (as it should be) but can mean anything from people (including drivers) wearing correctly fitted mask, or mask below the nose (why bother?), or no mask (*sigh*).
There's also a bus driver shortage as unvaccinated drivers have resigned. In theory that doesn't impact my route but one afternoon last there was no bus. That's a problem for a 3 bus service.
It's not safe for me to bike the rural and semi rural roads, particularly as the days shorten. A combination of car with bike to nearby towns/villages, and then biking on safer roads and cycle ways to work, is possible. It's a matter of balancing weather, time, energy expenditure, and the seasons.
We'll be working from home again once Omicron is in Canterbury. Before and after that happens, it's good to have more commuting options.
Today's gratitude: For a warm and pleasant ride back to my car.
