Barnacle State Park
I am at our place in Coconut Grove, Florida for a few days, the weather is perfect. Took advantage of our home being five minute walk from here and popped in after running errands. This park is so small I often forget it is there, to be honest.
The oldest home on its original footing is here in the park, dating back to the 1890s, which is terribly modern for Europeans in comparison to it being the oldest here.
The park is filled with Dade pines, which are too tough to be cut by hand, ‘Live Oak’ which curve and were prized by shipbuilders for their curves, so they did not have to bend and stress wood when constructing ships ribs, as well as Strangler Figs, which the name pretty much explains.
It was a lovely afternoon filled with cool temps and a gentle breeze.
