Pumped Up Prices

Back in 1970 when Matilda first hit the open road a gallon of petrol cost about 6s 8d, the following year it cost 34p* per gallon. Imagine her excitement when she found this pump still showing gallons! Shame it wasn't working...


* not allowing for inflation or spending power adjustments 34p per gallon would be about 7.5p per litre. I need to use E5 petrol to save her engines parts which now costs locally 154.9p per litre..!
