NOT Kilkenny

When we had our offer for the house accepted, we asked the Estate Agent for names of conveyancers and surveyors.  He gave us the names of three solicitors, and we requested quotes from all three.  Two responded promptly, so we selected one of these, contacted them, and made an appointment - duly kept yesterday.  Even then, I expressed some concern about the rather more "laid back" attitude.  

On our return from Waterford last night, W emailed the Agent, and gave him the name of our solicitor, only for him to email back this morning and tell us that the one we had selected was acting for our vendor.  What a mess.  W rang the lawyer's office, spoke to a secretary, was unable to speak to the lawyer, but "she'll ring you back".  Still hasn't. 

Whilst waiting for this call, we decided to contact the other solicitor who had initially responded. She (a little while later) got back to us, and has taken on the job. She wasn't bothered about actually meeting in person, but I was. And she can't meet this week, so we've had to postpone our return to the UK for a couple of days.

Meanwhile, we disturbed a mouse in our apartment - we are on a farm, weren't very bothered. But I thought I should let our host know. She came round a little later with three mousetraps, and later still with a plate of fresh scones.

We were meant to be going into Kilkenny city today - that didn't happen. We sat around most of the morning waiting for phonecalls, then took a quick trip into Borris to get some food for this evening, so I caught a photo of the viaduct as my blip. Hopefully Kilkenny tomorrow
