Pink Pussy Willow (Salix gracilistyla Mount Aso)

Kanyl and I decided to have a run out to Larch Cottage Nurseries Melkinthorpe this afternoon.  Not the best time of year as most things were dormant and much space cleared ready for the spring offerings.

However, we had a good wander round in the sun, and despite the weather forecast, it wasn't too cold.  As we headed for the café I spotted this unusual "Pussy Willow".  It is as far as I can establish originally from Japan and the buds show from winter into spring with the buds starting to swell in mid winter.  The foliage sounds equally striking with a silver back to the leaves.
