Catherine of Valois
I heard today that the curator is going to attempt to get the coat of arms off the wall in one piece so that we can use it in the education department. The lozenge shape denotes a single woman, either before marriage, or as in their case, widowed. We can tell it is a widowed woman because it has the coat of arms of her French father on the right, and her English husband (King Henry V) on the left. Catherine was the last of six medieval queens to own the castle.
