Sunny seeds
Taken in The Rookery while sitting on a bench in the sunshine with Scarlett, scoffing egg baps and enjoying a coffee. A super way to spend a lunchtime.
I was a bit off-centre today moodwise, but seeing Memoria at the cinema this even brought me back. It's a slow-paced film that focuses on sound – it's about a specific sound, but the whole soundscape is wonderful. The camera lingers for a long time in city parks or a river scene, with all the sounds kept in so that you feel that you are there – busy traffic and voices in the square and water, insects and birds at the river scene. Although initially I'm looking at the main character, the scene goes on for so long that I was taking in all the plants and views. It was like being on holiday. It's one for the cinema, for sure, because of that. I didn't appreciate the chap eating crisps a few seats down – who brings crisps to a cinema, especially to a film in which everyone is concentrating on the sound?
