"Manaia"

Built as a pilot boat for the Northland Harbour Board in NZ but fitted out more like a super yacht with an ample bar and saw some parties of legendary excesses. A magnificent vessel built in Auckland and launched 1963.powered by 2 x 15 litre straight 8 Rolls Royce diesel motors.
We passed by on the Mailboat this morning. I worked out that the economy of the Mailboat and Manaia is similar though said Mailboat is twice as fast.
