tempus fugit

From pole to pole

"Witches' knickers" - wind-blown plastic caught on fences, bushes, branches.
Some people find the [k]nickname offensive - to witches, women or underwear I'm not sure.

What is shocking is the latest report that nanoparticles of plastic have been found deep in both the Arctic and Antarctic ice caps. A deep core sample of Arctic ice found plastic contamination dating back to1965. In the Antarctic the core samples were not so old but contained  more plastic. See here.

On my walk along the coast path I also found: a plastic bottle, a beer can, a confectionary wrapper, two dog poo bags (all recent) and an Epipen for administering insulin (it was in working order but had expired in 2015).
This is at a quiet time of the year. You expect this amount of litter to be multiplied many times in the holiday season.
