100th Parkrun
Bev and I were up and off early this morning to set up for our 100th Event at Myrtle Parkrun. It was a quiet day, no ice, no fog and reasonably warm. The course set out, I hung our community bunting along the finish funnel and we donned our celebratory crowns ready for the off.
As 9 o'clock drew near, runners approached from all directions and soon they were off on the first of their four laps. There was a smashing atmosphere, lots of smiling faces despite the long uphill stretch, many thank yous and much appreciation of the 100 shaped cake and buns at the finish. After having 99 runners for Event 99 last week, the woman who finished in 100th place was wearing her Parkrun 100 events t-shirt, do do do doo, very spooky. Altogether we had 144 finishers. I finished in 144th place, but then I was the tailwalker!
