County Trials

Yorkshire Girl running in the Somerset Schools County trials. Apparently she loved it and was beaming as she crossed the finish line. She was overtaking people on the hills, which is about what I'd expect from my unconventional little miss. It was her first event in her new spikes, she's never run in them until this weekend. She really enjoyed it - and the bright orange is obviously an extra win!

A child who is not especially kind to her was also competing. Katie came in well ahead of her but waited for her to finish and gave her a chocolate.

She definitely wasn't up with the super fast kids who clearly train - Katie's only just decided she wants to work harder at her running - and we don't have the results yet but it might be close as to whether she makes the reserve list. Our friends said she was at the front of the middle pack. There's 10 County spots and 6 reserve. It would in many ways be helpful if she didn't get a spot, and I think this year she probably won't. But I hope she'll take it well as positive motivation that if she wants this, she can work for the next year's trials.

Edit: she came right in the middle. She was about 1.30 behind the majority bunch of top 15, 3 mins behind 1 and 2 who were in a league of their own.
