Long face

A chilly, dull day, weather-wise, so ideal for some serious, long overdue,  housework. 
We did manage a short walk to the local wildlife area which is close  to a paddock occupied by half a dozen horses. They were awaiting food so initially were interested  in us, but soon ambled off when they realized we were empty-handed. Just before  he disappeared I caught this one. How do they turn their  ears in opposite directions?
