Yippee!!!

He's here! My absolute favorite winter visitor - the hermit thrush. I'm sure he's been here for months, but this is my first sighting of him. Phew. I was a bit worried. They are not feeder birds, basically, but when the situation gets a bit dire, he comes in for a bite to eat. We've had snow - frozen basically - on the ground for two weeks? I think two weeks. It melts a little on top during many of the days, but then freezes solid again overnight. It's both covering up the usual food sources for the birds et al, and making it rather treacherous to walk around outside!
