Kalaw

Back to the main road: not our truck - we were are mere 25 ontop of garlic sacks, the chinese symbols in the corner.

Trying to find somewhere to trek. Far more touristy. We are promised an English speaking guide by our guest house. The rest of the day spent discovering the amazing noodle soup and sloping around tea houses and brilliantly named beer stations.

Kalaw is a colonial hill town. It's high, cool and green with a lovely market. Lots of Indians and Nepalese here still. Bizarre thinking of what it must be to "stay on" and live permanently a trapped, privileged outsider. An expat, sure, except we can usually still go home.
