The Great Gretsch
I have three saxophones - two sopranos and a tenor. This silver soprano is the oldest, made in about 1912 by the Martin Company (who are probably best known today for making guitars.) It is a wonderful rich tone but, compared with modern saxophones, is much harder to keep in tune throughout its full range. It also has a lovely soft, responsive action, but the palm keys are small and set low against the instrument, that makes using them more difficult. I play it very rarely but like it so much don't want to part with it.
I pruned one of our small apple trees this morning and finished tidying up the rose and clematis on the arch.
To the dentist this afternoon for my broken tooth. There was a long discussion of what options there are to repair the damage. I am going back on Thursday for treatment. It looks as if that will involve digging out what remains of the tooth and having a gap, as leaving the roots in risks infection in the future and any repairs will not be very secure. C'est la vie!
