Every time I visit the town, I pass parts of the picture. I have included a couple of images from slightly different angles of what I think was the original church and the building in the centre of the picture, now a fish and chip shop.
The traffic today was too busy to stand in the middle of the road to try for a better match with the painting. And, of course, painters can take greater liberties with reality than the photographer; it is still interesting to see the artist's simplifications and the added details.
