Credenza

This is one of the nicest pieces of furniture inside the OGH house museum.  It dates from the 1840s.

The Credenza features Burr walnut, with ormolu work (brass dipped in gold), with hand painted porcelain medallions. It is an English (Victorian) reproduction of a French Louis XVI (18th Century) style Credenza. It was owned by Mrs Louisa Hale (1829-1911) who emigrated with her husband Richard to South Australia in 1855. Her family later donated it to Old Government House.
