122 Of 365: Christ Of St John Of The Cross
By Salvador Dali.
‘Christ of St. John of the Cross’ is Spanish Surrealist artist Salvador Dali’s interpretation of the 16th century Spanish friar ‘John of the Cross’. The painting includes Jesus Christ on the cross in a darkened sky floating over a body of water complete with a boat and fisherman. Despite being a depiction of the crucifixion, Dali did not include Christ’s hands nailed to the cross or a crown of thorns because he was convinced in a dream that these features would ruin his depiction of Christ.
