Bridge of Dava

The Bridge of Dava carries the A939 across the Dorback Burn a little to the North of the former Dava School. The bridge was constructed in the 1750s by Major Caulfeild, an inspector of roads under General Wade. He was responsible for overseeing the network of around 700 miles of roads and over 600 bridges on the network of military roads instigated by Wade to 'subdue the Highlands' after the 1715 Jacobite Rising. The Bridge of Dava was on the military road from Perth to Fort George.

Bridgend of Dava a farm to the south west of the bridge appears on the OS maps produced in the 1870s but seems to have disappeared without trace.
