lapwings tumble
More than two weeks after the storm, there are still some sizable drifts up on the moor, slowly thawing from the bottom, like glaciers. This one lies next to the field with the highland cattle, and the gate has served as a measure of how slowly the level of snow is falling; it was completely covered at one point. The lapwings have returned to these fields too, and it's a great place to stand and watch them tumbling and to listen to their call.
Back to work tomorrow, after the Easter break. The kids still have another week and keep taunting me with that fact. I may have to wake myself up in the morning.
