Wide Wednesday: Piggies
“Have you seen the little piggies
Crawling in the dirt?
And for all the little piggies
Life is getting worse,
Always having dirt to play around in
Have you seen the bigger piggies
In their starched white shirts?
You will find the bigger piggies
Stirring up the dirt,
Always have clean shirts to play around in
In their sties with all their backing
They don't care what goes on around”
By George Harrison
I was listening to The Beatles’ White Album this afternoon and it struck me that George Harrison’s lyrics were apposite to events at Downing Street!
After dropping Sophie off at school this morning, we headed over to wish my golfing partner Henri a happy 70th birthday. Our fellow golfer Phil and his wife and our friends Tony & Rosie arrived not long after us and we ended up chatting over coffee and cakes until early afternoon!
This evening Tess, Chris and I attended a meeting about the future of the local open air swimming pool, which has been very uncertain, having not opened the last two years because of Covid. The good news is that reassurances have been given that it will open this year and there was a lot of support for the idea of getting the local community involved in running and fundraising in future.
These Piggies are in our back garden by the way but here are The Beatles:
