Little Tyrant
Eastern Phoebes are members of the 'Tyrant Flycatcher' family and are winter residents here in North Central Florida. They will begin their Northward migration up into their breeding grounds of Northeast US and Southeastern Canada early in the Spring. Since they are a dull brown color, they blend in quite well with the winter 'foliage'. I often hear their soft 'fee-bee' call before I see them. They have a 'tail-wagging' habit which helps to differentiate them from other flycatchers. Mature Phoebes have a small feather tuft on the top of their heads. This one doesn't have it so is most likely an immature.
