The bright sunshine emphasised the spectacular façade of Gosford House which was originally designed by Robert Adam although it was subsequently altered when he died in 1792 shortly after building started. Unfortunately after the interior was completed in1808 the seventh Earl of Wemyss only stayed in the house for 12 days before he died.  The original wings were rebuilt in 1891 with a double staircase and a magnificent marble hall in the centre.  When the house was occupied by the army during WW11 it suffered severe damage and subsequently much effort has been spent on trying to replicate its former glory.  The grounds are worth visiting especially in the spring when the daffodils are out but we find much of interest at all times of year, including the first bank of snowdrops today, and have taken several blips there.
