Deva

Bits of this wall are getting on for 2000 years old. Chester, or Deva to give it the Roman name from its foundation, still has a substantial amount of material remaining. As well as the walls there is an amphitheatre and more intriguingly, underneath various shops and cafes are the remains of buildings from the interior of the fort, many of which are still visible.
It all makes for a really interesting day out.
