CHAFFINCH.

It’s very cold and windy outside today Dexter loved chasing the leaves in the garden and when we went for a walk. My photo is a female chaffinch on a bush in our garden. The English name comes from the Old English ceaffinc, where ceaf is "chaff" and finc "finch". Chaffinches were likely given this name because after farmers thresh their crops, these birds sometimes spend weeks picking through heaps of discarded chaff for grain.

My friends coming this afternoon for a cup of tea and a piece of chocolate cake. I hope you all have a lovely weekend blip mates.
