What a day

Woken by the wind and it was really wild on our walk down by the river before breakfast. Just about to tidy away breakfast bowls and lights started flickering and then everything went off.
Power off in our village and the next, Facebook is so handy for finding out what’s going on. We decided to go for a walk and have lunch and if power not back on we would pack up and head home. Water boiled on the stove meant we could have coffee/tea, and kept warm.
We were in the car and heading off by two. Again Facebook informed us that our usual route was not advised so went across towards Newcastle and down M1, passing four overturned lorries between Newcastle and Scotch corner.
Lots of messages warning high winds slow down and most drivers were taking it easy but a few idiots went past at 70+.
Home, unpacked, Hetty walked, fed and glass of red, now to settle down in front of the stove and watch Hidden Assets.
