Are you a Galanthophile?
If you are, you will be enjoying this time of year when all the snowdrops are coming out.
In Shrewsbury there was an amazing gardener call Margaret Owen, who had one of the best collections of snowdrops in the UK.
She collected, grew, arranged and exhibited plants, especially snowdrops, holding a snowdrop party in her Shropshire garden, The Patch, each year in February. A snowdrop, Galanthus elwesii Margaret Owen was named after her. When she died, her collection was given to the National Collection. A lot of friends in Shropshire have some of her very unusual ones. I was told there are well over 1,000 different snowdrops.
