Who knew...
Late this afternoon, Sienna had a bowling birthday party to go to in Morecambe. In previous years, when her siblings would have had something similar on; it would have involved one parent dropping off/returning home and one picking up so that someone was there to look after the younger ones. Now we have no 'younger ones' and so we had 2 1/2 hours to pass on our own. Thinking maybe it was to be a bracing walk in the winds of Storm Malik along the promenade - we then felt the force of the wind, so we changed tack and headed the other way to Heysham where there was more shelter. What we didn't anticipate was stumbling upon the stunning ruins of the 8th century, St Patrick's Chapel...made all that more mesmerising by the setting sun.
After a good wander around the ruins, beachfront and walled garden we still had another hour to have a drink in the garden of the Royal before we needed to pick Sienna up.
I loved the hecticness of a full house when the children were small BUT really loving it now - with these new moments to explore and discover on our own.*
*I guess as we came into our relationship 18 years ago with 4 children between us and all under 6 years - so this really is the first time we are starting to have time on our own together!
