An Lochan Uaine

We stayed overnight in Inverness and enjoyed a lovely meal last night in one of its many bistros.

Further fortified by a cooked breakfast we set off mid-morning and made our way to the Glenmore Forest Centre a few miles outside Aviemore. We followed the Ryvoan trail which took us along a steep and twisty path to the aptly named An Lochan Uaine (The Green Lochan).

Legend has green as a result of the fairies washing their clothes in it. A more prosaic explanation is that it is a combination of the reflected pine trees and algae in the lochan.  Either way it was startlingly green.

We are now back home, awaiting the arrival of Storm Corrie.

I've thoroughly enjoyed our trip North
