Kimono shopping

Today I had the pleasure of taking Fitzwilliam College's bursar's wife around Fukuoka for the day, accompanied by my mum, brother and friend Tom. She was particularly interested in textiles, and so in the afternoon we went to a tiny second-hand kimono shop I know. The reductions on the clothes are astounding (I don't think there is a 'vintage' following in Japan!), and the bursar's wife managed to pick up a kimono that had been reduced from 80,000 yen to 750.

Later that night, we went for a meal with everyone from Oxford and Cambridge, and I felt a little worse for wear...
