Disaster zone

Yushu is an interesting place - a sizeable city at 4000m, freezing for the majority of the year and almost completely razed to the ground following a serious earthquake 3 years ago. It's a massive building site with the majority of people still living in disaster relief tents.

We used it as a base for a few days and got used to the quirks of dogs barking through the night, power cuts and overflowing toilets. Nice bread for breakfast and noodles for dinner.
