The Bishop out of Residence

This plaque is on the riverside at Kingston, above the Thames Street passage next to the pub formerly known as the Bishop out of Residence.
The plaque refers to William of Wykeham who was the Bishop of Winchester, Chancellor of England and the Founder of Winchester College. Wykeham commissioned a palace to be built on the spot where the plaque hangs where he would live when he wasn't in his preferred residence in Esher. Seeing as he was rarely at his Kingston home the name "Bishop out of Residence" was born.
