Rainy, Lazy Sunday
Well, there was no point in even trying. It was just too perfect a day to stay in with a good book and that's just what I did. I opened the front door to let Snuffy and Lizzie out but instead, Pippin the little black squirrel came in (he was soaking wet I might add). There was a momentary flurry while I re-directed him outside with a handful of peanuts and slammed the door on Snuffy's whiskers. Lizzie wasn't moving fast enough to get involved.
By the way, Lizzie is adjusting to her new diet food very nicely. She's not complaining at all. I don't know if she's lost any weight yet but it's only been a week. The stuff doesn't look very appetizing, but she seems to like it. We have to carefully measure what she gets and then she gets two, count 'em, two little heart-shaped treats at night. I fully expected her to just laugh when I put them in her dish, but she seems quite happy to crunch them up and not look for more. I hope all this is a good sign.
And just in case anyone is curious, the book I was reading, which was pretty close to being too good to put down, was "A Higher Call", by Adam Makos. For anyone interested in WWII history, this is a gem. It's the story of an amazing encounter between the American pilot of a B-17 bomber and the German pilot of a Messerschmitt fighter. I highly recommend it.
