The chapel

Blessed with warmer weather today it was perfect for strolling round the streets and colleges of Oxford. Mo wanted to show JP a pub we had gone to many years ago; one hidden in a very narrow street that has room for only one person to pass - the Turf tavern, ancient, low beamed ceilings, good beer and food; a place where duels were fought back in the day.

Balliol college chapel. The college is one of the oldest founded 750 years ago by John de Balliol in 1263 and consolidated by his wife, Dervorguilla of Gallowey (parents of John Balliol king of Scots). Which makes one wonder about the hidden role of medaeval women in founding enduring institutions.
